This is a beautifully decorated Natsume:
- crafted by a reputable Makie artist
TAKAGI Masaaki (1959~ / 高木雅啓 in Japanese) in Wajima.
- using excellent quality of materials.
The artist has won many prizes at various traditional crafts exhibitions in Japan (photo #11-12).
The motif or title of this Natsume is GAGAKU (雅楽 in Japanese), which is drawn at right / upper part on the wooden box (photo #11).
GAGAKU means Japanese traditional music which has been played since 1,300+ years ago at emperor's palace,
shrine
, temple and so forth.
Four music instruments used for GAGAKU are depicted with wonderful Makie technique.
He signed at the left / low part on the box
(photo #11).
It is in excellent condition and seems not used.
White (shining) parts on photographs are reflection of light, i.e. no blemish or flaw at all.
