7 little tough-to-find circa 1919 non-sport cards...
From a little research and a few clues in hand, I have pieced together the following:  circa 1919 and likely the same manufacturer that within a couple of years did a series on the US Presidents: "Universal T&N Mfg. Co" (Universal Toy & Novelty Mfg. Co)... the word "Matching" is used in the verbiage of both the movie stars here and the Presidents and I have one BSA card that has both the full Universal maker's name AND the little "I.F.S" as some of this type also have ...
I believe you originally got a thematic "strip" of sorts (maybe w/ a cigarette or tobacco purchase) and then cut it up to form individual cards... you probably then played a game like "Old Maid" where you pick a card from the other's hand and to see if you get a "match" or maybe you lay a bunch on the table and try to remember where its match is/was, etc. YOU GET ALL 7 SCARCE CARDS IN THIS ONE LOT!
