Description
This is a vintage Japanese specialty table known as akoshin-dana
or sideboard for chado (Japanese tea ceremony). It is made of solid kiri (pulownina) wood. It is made of 15 part construction with all parts mortise and
tenoned together in a
seamless and graceful construction. The side
columns
flair slightly outward and thicken at the bottom (see pictures).
Having been used lovingly and stored for many decades, it still remains in
very fine
condition
. It measures approximately 17 1/2" tall by 12" in diameter across the bottom (45 x 30 cm).
